Out-of-Doors

Commemorating spending an afternoon outside with polaroids and a typecast? Shows how much things have changed since I was growing up.

  1. IT's ahrd to adapt to no yard and wide open spaces when moving from the country to the city. I'm in my city 12 years now and still miss my place in the country.

    1. Yeah, though it feels like early summer to me. It's been 70 and sunny most of the week.

  4. Nice! Reminds me I should get outside before it becomes too life-threateningly hot to do so. (:

  5. I love your hand-drawn map! Should I assume that the different road symbolism is for "Paved," "Improved," and "Unpaved?" Are you a professional cartographer? Is this an imaginary area? Nice way to spend a lazy afternoon in the shade, leaning against a tree.

    1. Thanks :) I'm a graphic designer but I've made maps by hand and digitally for fun since I was young. If I'd been born in another time I certainly would have wanted to be a cartographer making road maps.

They stand for paved, gravelled, and graded dirt so you're just about right. :) It's an imaginary place, inspired a bit by the Seattle area and Scotland.

  6. Meh, my comment just disappeared. So here;s for take two:

That's you drawing? Impressive! Somethingsomething about being outside and a change of scenery. Does your seventh floor have an outdoor gallery? With morning sun perhaps? Try sitting at your welcome mat after waking up, enjoying your morning tea/coffee. Gives you a whole new perspective!

    1. Nothing outdoors on our floor (or on any of the 4 beneath us) and the roof isn't open to access. It's like they want to keep everybody stuck inside! We do have the morning sun in our windows, though it can be annoying with the glare in your eyes, haha.

  7. The Polaroid's have the look and feel of "slides" that my dad took in the late forties, and fifties - with the fuzzy color faded, yellowy look - it's cool in it's own right!

    1. The color effect is actually due to the bad old film rather than a flaw of the medium, but it does make for a cool look.
